Frequently asked questions

Do I get a new phone number?
Yes. Gaffer provides a dedicated business number for your company. You can port an existing number or get a new local number. Calls and SMS go through this number.
Are call recordings GDPR compliant?
Yes. Gaffer includes a configurable recording disclosure played at the start of calls ('This call may be recorded for training and quality purposes'). Recordings are stored securely with encryption at rest and in transit. You can delete recordings at any time.
How does WhatsApp integration work?
WhatsApp Business is available as an add-on (£39/mo). You connect your WhatsApp Business account, and messages sent/received through WhatsApp appear in Gaffer alongside SMS and email. Two-way conversations, templates and media sharing are all supported.
Can I use my existing email for inbound parsing?
You can forward emails from your existing address to your Gaffer inbound address. Or set up a Gaffer email as a secondary alias on your domain. Custom domain email is available on Growth and Scale plans.
Does the AI transcription work with strong accents?
Yes. The AI transcription model is trained on UK English and handles regional accents, trade terminology and background noise well. It's not perfect, but it's accurate enough for summaries and action item extraction.
Is there extra cost for calls and SMS?
Call and SMS credits are included in your plan. Starter includes 500 minutes and 500 SMS/mo. Growth includes 2,000 minutes and 2,000 SMS/mo. Scale includes 5,000 minutes and 5,000 SMS/mo. Additional usage is billed at low per-unit rates.
